University Institute of Engineering & Technology, set amidst serene and calm environment in the 'City Beautiful', Chandigarh, is one of the most well-known institutes for Engineering & Research in Northern India.

The institute is member of Campus Connect programme of Infosys Technologies Ltd., Bangalore. The programme supports Faculty training in industry, project guidance to students, curricula inputs, industry perspective of teaching-learning and expert lecture inputs. UIET has numerous MOUs and interactions with the industry and academia like IBM, Sun Microsystem, IMTECH etc.

UIET is ranked #31 in the best engineering colleges in India ranking list by Outlook conducted in May 2011. In the past, Mint C-Fore-2008 Survey Ranked UIET #40 in the 'Top 50 Government Colleges' in India. Apart from the overall institute ranks, The Department of Biotechnology, UIET, was ranked #10 by Biospectrum India in the year 2007.
