University Institute of Engineering & Technology, set amidst serene and calm environment in the 'City
Beautiful', Chandigarh, is one of the most well-known institutes for Engineering & Research in Northern
India.
Carrying the legacy of Panjab University forward, the institute has set high standards in technical
education, heralding the advent of novel and topical pieces of work. Not only being well equipped with
workshops and laboratories, providing practical industrial exposure to the students, UIET houses state-
of-the-art computer facilities, independent broad band internet connectivity aiming to provide to the

practical activities has been seen, transforming much of the latter to a computer disposition. Envisaging

Institute has good liaison with industry. Bharti group of industries has set up a Bharti Chair in
Telecommunication & IT to boost research in Telecommunication. The institute is member of Campus
Connect programme of Infosys Technologies Ltd., Bangalore. The programme supports Faculty training
in industry, project guidance to students, curricula inputs, industry perspective of teaching-learning and
expert lecture inputs. UIET has numerous MOUs and interactions with the industry and academia like
IBM, Sun Microsystem, IMTECH etc.
UIET is ranked #31 in the best engineering colleges in India ranking list by
Outlook conducted in May
2011.
In the past, Mint C-Fore-2008 Survey Ranked UIET #40 in the
'Top 50 Government Colleges' in India.
Apart from the overall institute ranks, The Department of Biotechnology, UIET, was ranked #10 by
Biospectrum India in the year 2007.
UIET has been a host as well as a participant to several industrial, academic and undergraduate level
competitions and events, worth a mention are events like CHASCON '11, SAE Effi-Cycle '10, NCAME '11.
